Fanny Packs and Free Kittens!

It's Friday! It's 90 degrees! There are a million things to do this weekend, so get ready.

Now, technically, you can attend all three of these events. Go for it!

Start out with a little Austin Growers Guild Mixer at Houndstooth Coffee, tonight from 5-8. Network with other growers and gardeners and learn how to grow your own veggies! One day I'll have a yard!

From 8-10pm tonight at Opal Divine's 6th St. location, there will be a Fanny Packin' Scavenger Hunt! Bring a team of 3 and your fanny packs!

If you're more in the mood for some interesting improv, and I know you are, stop in at Hyde Park Theatre for Alone Together, a first-ever solo improv showcase under the direction of my all-time favorite visiting improviser, Jill Bernard. Show is at 10:30, and ends with a special performance of Drum Machine. If you haven't seen Jill perform yet, this is your last chance. Tickets are only 5 dollars. $5 dollars to have your mind BLOWN? You gotta Say Yes. Circle Mirror Transformation is tonight at 8pm, before Alone Together, so just make a night of it!

I'm still on a theater kick, and there are still shows to see!

The Virgin w/ 10,000 Arrows and Melancholy Play both happen tonight at 8pm at Austin Playhouse. Tickets are $12-15. Annie at Zilker Park is still going strong, now in it's fourth week. The show is free ($3 to park), and starts at 8:30pm.

Start Saturday off with some free kittens! The Austin Human Society is holding its first ever free cat adoption event. Stop in between 12-7 and pick up a new kitten!

The Sol & Luna Art & Music Festival is also happening on Saturday. This will be an all-day happenin', with live music, art, and interaction. 11am-11:30pm at Cherrywood Coffee House.

Late, late, late Saturday night come dance and drink at a bridge party! Starting at 1am, Wolf Teeth, Steady Breaks, Hot Britches, will rock out on the South Lamar Pedestrian Bridge. I've heard about these happenings for a while, and look forward to seeing it in action!

On Sunday, partake in, or simply witness the Keep Austin Breastfeeding Flash Mob at Barton Springs. If you want to partake, the last rehearsal is Saturday! The mob will happen around 1pm. There's nothing like Austin randomness.

While you're in South Austin, come say "hi" to me at The 04 Lounge. They are turning two! Free food & beer while it lasts, live music at 10pm, and of course, a dance party till closing time.

I think I'll be pretty exhausted after this action-packed weekend, but I'll try to keep ya posted. Stay hydrated and don't get too excited!
