Say Yes to Sweet Lovin'

The balloons are out, the rose prices are rising, bears and heart shaped boxes are staring you down in the check-out line. Yeah, yeah, it's V-day once again. But it doesn't matter if you're happily or bitterly single, madly or just-sort-of in love with your significant other, there's something for you to put your heart into this February 14th. I'm not much into holidays, but there are so many sugary sweet events happening this year, I just may have caught the lovebug.

One Night Stand-Up Comedy:

Check out Coldtowne Theater's Remote Controlmance, on February 12th starting at 8pm. Turn of the Century Paris is presenting your favorite tv shows, including Say Yes to the Dress, 24, Lost, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Unsolved Mysteries. It's $5 per show (which includes two improvised tv shows), BYOB, and a perfect way to spend a Saturday night, whether you're single or snugglin' up with that new dude you met on 6th St. Cheap date? Sign up for Coldtowne's e-mail list and get a 2-for-1 ticket for any show.

If all goes well and you still want to laugh it up, stop by The Hideout Theatre after dinner downtown V-day, at 7 or 9pm, for their Love is a Funny Thing! Valentine's Day Show. $25 for all inclusive love and improv and fun.

Hopeless Romantic:

The amazing crew at the Alamo Drafthouse are, as always, churning out some holiday entertainment. Master Pancake Theater will be mocking my favorite romantic movie, The Notebook. Catch it at the Lake Creek location on Feb. 10th at 7 or 10pm for just $13.50. Go ahead, let that cute girl cry on your shoulder!

As awesome as that is, nothing could be more romantic than making-out, I mean, seeing a classic movie at the drive-in. Blue Starlite Urban Drive-In will be screening Roman Holiday February 13th and 14th at 8pm. You can walk, bike, or bring the caddy. BYOB, check out the food trailers nearby, or buy some classic candy, popcorn, or smores! You can even bring your pet as long as they don't bark it up. Prices start at $10, and yes, they really do encourage making out.

Got a sugar daddy or sweet tooth?

If I had $75 and a lover I'd be lickin' my lips at the Alamo Lake Creek's Valentine's Day Feast: Chocolat. Starts at 6:30pm! Johnny Depp and a chocolate feast? Yes, please.

I cannot stress enough how awesome Courtney at Divine Serenity is. Book a massage for you or someone you adore this Valentine's day and receive a free four pack of hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries. How divine is that?

Bitter and wanting to sing about it:

Love Bites: The Power Ballad Sing-Along. Need I say more? Grab your lighters, $12, and your friends and jam out all this week and next at the Alamo Ritz or Alamo Lake Creek locations.

Bitter, broke, and single? The fine folks at The Highball will also be throwing a free Love Bites Karaoke Party at 10pm this Valentine's day.

Need some new skivvies before all the activities?:

Underwear is throwing a little shindig on the 10th from 6-8pm. Browse for some new pre-lovin' attire while enjoying champagne and sweets and possibly winning a gift card.

The Ghost Room is also hosting an Austin Valentine's Flea market for all you last minute lovers needing a local, handmade gift.

So bitter or sweet, naughty or nice, get out there and spread the love. Just think twice before drunk dialing that ex of yours. Love you, little city!
