The S.S. Say Yes

I'm stockin' up on improv this week. Check out Band of Liars with me Thursday night at The Hideout, and False Matters: Stories Improvised in the Style of Philip K. Dick at SVT Friday night. Both shows are at 8pm.

Also currently playing at Salvage Vanguard Theater, A Lie of the Mind by Sam Shephard. It ends June 4th so catch it soon! And since you can't get enough Sam Shephard, True West is comin' up and needs your help! Check out the project on Kickstarter, donate some money and get some cool stuff!

Summer, Summer, Summertime. Celebrate by hanging out at The Paramount and checking out some of their Summer Classic Film Series. I'd recommend purchasing a Film Fan Pass to get discounted movie tickets, reserved seating, and free popcorn every screening! I'm excited about Casablanca and Modern Times, myself. Also, be sure to check out the Dazed and Confused screening and scavenger hunt next Saturday. $20 gets you in to the hunt, the movie, soda, and popcorn!

The Austin Variety Show will also be gettin' down next Saturday with their housewarming party at Highland Mall! I'm talking no cover, free food & drinks, prizes, ticket giveaways and who knows what else. Bring a goofy/funny/strange gift and they will try to display the weirdest ones in the new space. In the meantime, watch them on TV every Saturday night at Midnight on KBVO "MyAustinTV" or on the internet.

Memorial Day is coming up and Yoga Vida is celebrating the start of Summer with a 2 hour Power Vinyasa class to the music of Bob Marley. How Austin is that? Check it out for just $20, from 3-5pm.

You know the AMOA will be closing in October, so get in while you can and check out the current exhibition New Art in Austin: 15 to Watch.

Speaking of local awesome art, check out my favorite Austin artist blog: recovering lazyholic. Erin Hanson takes great photographs and makes fun, simple cards or prints from sets such as the one minute Photoshop series. Subscribe to her e-mail lists for quirky blasts from the pasts and new artistic endeavours.

Yay!
